(This episode was partially transcribed by computer and may contain small errors. If quoting this podcast, please refer to the original audio.) Each week a new theme. Each day 10 minutes to focus our mindset on what matters. I'm Sarah Parker, Wolf, and you're listening to the focused intention podcast. Thanks for joining me. This week's theme is "THE COMFORT ZONE" and today is Truthful Tuesday. Which means today we tell it like it is. Hi everyone and thanks for joining me for another episode of the focused intention podcast. I'm so happy to be here with you on a Truthful Tuesday and if you weren't able to join us yesterday for motivation Monday, I encourage you to go back and listen. We talked yesterday about our comfort zone and how we can start living, start noticing what's around us and get out of our autopilot, that default mode that we get stuck in. Now today I want us to go one step further so let's get started. So, did you try something new yesterday? I hope so. I mean, did you brush your teeth before you showered instead of after? Or did you take a new route to work? Or did you just simply notice what's around you all the time? I really hope you took the time to do that -- to try something new yesterday. But today I want us to talk some truth and that is that when we take this concept of "THE COMFORT ZONE" just a little bit further, we realize that without stretching our boundaries we don't grow. We don't evolve, we remain the same person we always work with no deeper knowledge or understanding of why we're here. So, we need to dig a little bit deeper with today's “new thing.” So this week I because I just started a podcast I joined all of these Facebook groups and there's a few where people you know, they post their podcast trying to get others to listen -- to give them feedback. And so, I did something new. I listened to a couple of podcasts that I would have never picked out in a million years. And, let me tell you, I really enjoyed it and mostly I was listening to podcasts of people way younger than me. One person even referred to a singer as someone “really old like her mom” who is 45. I about died right there. Yeah, I'm 46 so... But the point is, I got a new perspective on things and it was exciting to me. I listened. I couldn't talk back, which was even a better advantage. I listened to somebody else’s point of view and I felt, because I did that, that I grew as a person. I now understand a different point of view on things that maybe I didn't think about before. I feel like I opened my mind to a different viewpoint. So today I want us to stretch ourselves a little bit with the intent of growing as a person or as a friend or as a parent or as a coworker. So what could we do? Maybe listen to new music you never tried before with the intention of trying to understand why someone else might connect with it. Or try a new kind of book. If you love mysteries, read a biography or a memoir. If you read business books, try a romance. Or try a new type of food and learn about where it's from and how it's made. Expand your world. I want to expand mine. All right, baby steps to bigger steps. So here is our intention for today: My ability to grow depends on my willingness to stretch the boundaries of my comfort zone. That's a long one, I know, but it's packed with a lot of good things and you can always go to my website at sarahparkerwolf.com. This week's theme is "THE COMFORT ZONE" and today is Motivation Monday. And that means we focus on getting ourselves ready for a great week ahead. Hi everyone and thanks for joining me for another episode of the FOCUSED INTENTION PODCAST. I'm Sarah and I'm very happy to welcome you here on a lovely Monday and we're about to get motivated for a great week ahead with a new theme. It is "THE COMFORT ZONE" and guess what? We're not staying anywhere near it. Join me, let's get started. Now I know some of you out there are the adventurous sort, and there's probably some of you that are a bit more hesitant when it comes to trying new things, but today, I'm not really thinking of things like skydiving or mountain climbing. I'm thinking of something much more ordinary when I think about our comfort zones and how we can move past them this week. When I say comfort zone, I'm talking about all those things that we do on autopilot. The little things that have us going through our days without...living. I know many times I have driven to work or to the grocery store and not remembered one thing about how I got there because it was just the same as always, or at least I assumed it was the same as always. I took the same route. I passed the same houses. I saw the same people. It never changed, so in my mind it just registered as nothing absolutely nothing. How much time did I lose there? Or you know, when you get into a routine going to work every day? Like me, I get up at the same time on the same side of the bed. I shower and get ready. I even shower in the same order I wash my hair and then I wash my body doing the same things in the same way every single day I can get up at 6:00 and not really remember anything about my day at all until 9:00 or 10:00 o'clock in the morning, is that not ridiculous? Think about those things that you do, that you don't even remember doing. So, this week, I am challenging us to push past the boundaries of our comfort zone by simply waking up. I don't mean waking up in the morning. I mean waking up to our lives, shaking things up, pulling ourselves out of default mode. Take a new route to work or at least take in -- every time you stop or you slow down -- take in what's around you. Look around, see something new. Enjoy life, live life. So, whether it's waking up five minutes earlier to stretch, or brushing your teeth before you brush your hair, I know that's wild right. Our intention this week is: I commit to trying something new every day. Now, if you want to learn French or something, I say go for it, but break it down 10 new words every day or you know, just try a new salad dressing. Let's just commit to waking up and seeing what is around us in our everyday life, alright? Let's commit that intention to memory! Take a deep breath. In through the nose, hold it just for a second. Release through your mouth. One more. Hold it for the count of three. Exhale and let's say to ourselves... I commit to trying something new every day. I commit to trying something new every day. I commit to trying something new every day. I commit to trying something new every day. Thanks so much for sharing your time with me today. Please if you like what you're hearing, come back and listen to us again tomorrow and the next day and the next day. We're here every day.
